Larry Bortz turned to Artisun Solar to take control of his long-term energy costs at his rural Iowa property. With rising utility bills and a strong interest in maximizing the value of his land and operations, Larry made the decision to install a rooftop solar system that would provide predictable energy savings and strong financial returns for years to come.
Artisun Solar designed and installed a 31 kW DC / 23.1 kW AC rooftop photovoltaic system, customized to meet the energy demands of Larry’s property. The system is projected to offset more than 688 metric tons of CO₂ emissions over its lifetime, which is equivalent to planting over 11,000 trees. Thanks to USDA REAP grants and a solid mix of federal and state incentives, Larry’s total out-of-pocket cost for the system was reduced significantly, with a payback period of under a year and a projected lifetime savings of more than $160,000.
By investing in solar, Larry Bortz has not only stabilized his energy expenses but also increased the overall property value—an investment that will benefit his business and family for decades to come.
