Bortz Farm turned to Artisun Solar to take control of their long-term energy costs at their rural Iowa property. With rising utility bills and a strong interest in maximizing the value of the land and operations, Bortz Farm installed a rooftop solar system that would provide predictable energy savings and strong financial returns for years to come.
Artisun Solar designed and installed a 31 kW DC / 23.1 kW AC rooftop photovoltaic system, customized to meet the energy demands of Bortz Farm. The system is projected to offset more than 688 metric tons of CO₂ emissions over its lifetime, which is equivalent to planting over 11,000 trees. Thanks to a USDA grant and a solid mix of federal and state incentives, Bortz Farm total out-of-pocket cost for the system was reduced significantly, with a payback period of under a year and a projected lifetime savings of more than $160,000.
By investing in solar, Bortz Farm has not only stabilized their energy expenses but also increased the overall property value—an investment that will benefit the business for decades to come.
