MOCAP operates energy-intensive plastics manufacturing facilities where electricity represents a major operating expense. As utility rates continued to rise, company leadership chose to take a proactive approach to stabilizing long term costs and reducing exposure to future increases.
Artisun Solar installed a 1.494 MW rooftop solar system for MOCAP at its Missouri headquarters. The project includes more than 4,000 solar panels and was engineered to align with the facility’s daytime production demands, allowing MOCAP to offset a significant portion of its grid usage while maintaining uninterrupted operations during construction.
Project Outcomes
-
Nearly 50 percent reduction in monthly electricity costs
-
More than $85,000 saved annually in energy expenses
-
Over $4 million in projected lifetime utility savings
-
Approximately 35,000 metric tons of carbon emissions avoided
Artisun Solar also worked closely with MOCAP to secure available federal incentives. Solar tax credits covered more than 40 percent of the total project cost, resulting in over $860,000 in upfront savings and strengthening the project’s overall return.
The installation positions MOCAP for greater cost predictability, improved operational resilience, and continued leadership in efficient manufacturing in Missouri.
