Busenbark Flooring & Granite is a family-owned business in Farmington, MO that has been serving the region since 1941. For more than eight decades, they’ve sold and installed residential and commercial flooring, granite, countertops, tile, and hardwood across Southeast Missouri and beyond.
Running a large showroom and warehouse means electricity demand is constant, with lighting, HVAC, fabrication tools, and display equipment all drawing power around the clock, and those utility bills directly impact your operating budget. Solar gave Busenbark Granite a way to lock in predictable energy costs and protect their operating budget from rising utility rates.
Busenbark Granite partnered with Artisun Solar to install a 100.3 kW (DC) rooftop solar array in Farmington, MO. The system uses 262 panels and delivers 72 kW (AC) of output. It’s expected to save $11,596 in the first year alone and $505,668 over its lifetime. The payback period sits at just 2.1 years, which means the system pays for itself in a little over two years and keeps producing savings for decades after that.
With Ameren as the utility provider, the system covers 82.71% of the facility’s energy use. Over its lifetime, the system is also expected to offset 2,389.4 metric tons of CO₂ emissions: production savings and reduced grid dependence, measured in real numbers.
