4 T’s Discount Food is a community-focused grocery retailer based in Hennessey, OK, committed to keeping quality food affordable and accessible for the families they serve. Running a high-traffic retail operation with refrigeration, lighting, and daily operations means energy costs are constantly adding up.
To get those costs under control, 4 T’s Discount Food partnered with Artisun Solar to install a solar energy system that directly reduces their monthly utility expenses.
4 T’s Discount Food worked with Artisun Solar to build a 149.7 kW (DC) rooftop solar array. The 393-panel system with a 100 kW (AC) output was installed on their facility and serviced through OG&E. The project was structured to take full advantage of available financial incentives, including the Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC), USDA grant, and both State and Federal Depreciation.
With a payback period of less than a year, the numbers speak for themselves. The system is expected to save $17,212 in the first year alone, with lifetime electricity savings projected at $750,571.
Every detail of this system, from panel count to incentive strategy, was engineered around 4 T’s Discount Food’s actual energy usage and utility structure. In addition to the long-term cost savings, the system is expected to offset 3,798.4 metric tons of CO₂ emissions over its lifetime. For a business built on giving its community more value for less, solar was a straightforward decision.
