Each year, the Kansas City Industrial Council (KCIC) recognizes and celebrates notable sustainability efforts launched by local businesses. Designed and installed by Artisun Solar, IodiTech’s new 380kw PV solar system was recognized at this year’s awards breakfast with a prestigious Gold Award. Alongside other winners including Northwest Missouri University and the Kansas City International Airport, IodiTech’s recognition by the KCIC sets them apart as a local business that’s displaying a steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability. IodiTech is an iodine manufacturing company that fuels a diverse set of industries ranging from food to healthcare to fashion. Since the company’s founding in 2003, IodiTech has made efforts to lessen its impact on the environment through a robust recycling program, special customer incentives to reuse packing materials and logistical processes that have drastically reduced water usage.
The company’s VP of Finance & Sales Ben Rogers and Owen Forck, Director of Operations, accepted the award, which was held at the Kansas City Zoo and Aquarium on October 26th. IodiTech’s solar system will offset an estimated 9,556 metric tons of CO2 emissions, roughly equal to more than 23 million miles driven by an average car. Over the coming decades, IodiTech is projected to save over $2.2 million in energy costs with roughly $25,000 in savings within the first year of installation.
IodiTech’s formal recognition for their sustainability efforts shows that solar allows businesses like theirs to invest in their future through huge energy savings while protecting the environment at the same time. To learn more about what solar can do for your business, contact us today.
